Our co-founders, Steve Jackson and Mark Brannon, are both passionate about music and have been playing music together for nearly twenty years.  In the spring of 2007, they approached the City of Southaven with a proposal for starting community jazz and symphonic bands.  The support, financially and otherwise, was overwhelming!  Less than six months later the jazz band was performance ready and the symphonic band was gearing up.  The bands were officially introduced to the world at a reception on October 4, 2007, featuring the Main Street Jazz Orchestra's premiere performance.

Our members are volunteers from all walks of life.  The common thread that ties us together is the love of music and of sharing that music with others.
